That’s right, I now only need 25 more T206 cards to finish the set (sans the big 4 – Wagner, Plank, Doyle, Magie). It’s been a heck of a ride getting to this point; a lot of fun, a lot of money. While I love these cards and searching for them and winning auctions is a real thrill, I must admit I like not the financial burden they bring. I keep track of each card, where I obtained it and how much I paid for it. Adding up what I’ve spent is staggering and you can’t help but think of all the other ways that money could’ve been spent. Then again, it’s been a pleasure getting involved in the hobby again and, like I said, it’s been fun.
The last 25 is a mixture of hall of famers (all of the Cobbs, the two Johnsons, one Young, two Tinkers, among others) and harder to find and more expensive non-hall of famers such as Elberfeld-Washington, Demmitt-St Louis, and O’Hara-St Louis. These last 25 cards could end up costing me a third of what I’ve already spent on the rest of the set, if not more. Given that, I plan on taking my time gradually picking up these final 25. It could happen this year or in five. Time will tell.
